The Dark Carnival is a 12 track album and it is Cleanslate's debut, embracing the unlikely alchemy of Rebluroomefofuzz - a voyage through reggae, blues, roots, rock, metal, folk, funk & jazz. Cleanslate is essentially one man, multi-instrumentalist Smokey, and a host of session folk who add colour and tone to his compositions. The album was recorded, produced and mastered by Smokey's undeniably beige alter-ego, Ben Allmon. To compliment his unique approach to DIY recording, Smokey is touring the album by walking from the Gold Coast to Sydney, believing that in music as in life it is the journey, not the destination, that counts. He has done all his own marketing and been played on ABC radio in Port Mac, Newcastle, Central Coast and the Gold Coast, with an article in the Manly Daily & interest from NBN-alas, too late! Having just achieved this (20/04/06) he plans to combine regular shows in Oz with 3 months in Tennessee, finishing the year with a walk from Syd to Melb. All of this without any funding, just a guitar and determination to do things differently!!
