There are some differences with the way we work with independent labels.
We only distribute independent music. We define small labels not owned by major music companies as independents. As long as your label meets this condition, fine.
We normally ask individual bands for a minimum stock level of 10 copies per title. However if we are taking on a label with many listings, some of which will be slower sellers, we negotiate the number of CDs we need as stock on a case by case basis. We may agree to accept as few as two copies per title.
We still require a minimum of two free copies per CD for Indie-CDs.com use - one for our reference copy and one potentially for review.
The level of fees charged for us to accept a label varies with the number of titles we will list. In many cases, we will not charge a fee for listing to independent labels.
For a label, we create a "portal" on our site dedicated to that label, that users can go to to locate those titles. See our INDIE LABELS section on the left hand menu on this website for examples.
We negotiate what titles we will list of a label's content individually with each label. We may decide to accept all titles from a label if the material is suitable for our site and sits well in our catalogue.
For overseas labels, we can accept unboxed CD stock, sent with tray inserts and covers, VERY carefully packed, to keep down overseas mail fees. In this case we charge a fee to place the CDs in cases, which is either deducted from sales, or covered by us offering you a lower commission rate.
Use the website contact form if you operate an independent label and are interested in indie-cds distribution.
